The Wonderful World of Baking Soda
Jennifer Tanner - Esthetician

Baking soda, formerly known for household and cooking uses is a great main ingredient for several beauty recipes. Today we will be making homemade products using baking soda.

Miracle Facial Exfoliant:
2 parts baking soda
1 part water or aloe vera
3 drops essential oil of your choice

Hair De-Gunker:
Great for when your scalp is feeling dry and/or crusty or if you have product build up. If your scalp is also itchy, follow with an apple cider vinegar rinse.
2 parts baking soda
1 part water
5 drops rosemary oil

Massage into scalp. Can be left on for 1 or 2 minutes. Follow with shampoo and conditioner and/or apple cider vinegar.

Bath Crystals:
2 parts Epsom salts
1 part baking soda
Herbs or flowers of your choice
10 drops essential oil(s) of your choice

Pour liberally into a running bath. Can be put into a muslin bag, tea ball or cheesecloth then dropped into the bath if you are concerned about the herbs/flowers clogging the drain.

Dry Shampoo:
Can be used if you are running late or don't have time to shampoo.
1 part baking soda
1 part baby powder
3 drops essential oil

Apply to the roots of hair and bangs. Massage or comb through. Will absorb excess oils and freshen the hair.
